Ingredients
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 1 cup water (or unsweetened almond milk or oat milk if preferred)
- ½ to 1 apple, peeled or unpeeled and diced (for soft “apple pie” texture)
- 1–2 teaspoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (or more if you like extra spice)
- Optional: splash of milk or almond milk at the end for creaminess
Directions
- Bring water (or milk) to a gentle boil in a small pot.
- Add oats and reduce heat to medium-low. Cook and stir for about 3–5 minutes until oats begin to soften.
- Add diced apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
- Continue cooking another 3–5 minutes, stirring often, until apples are soft and oatmeal is thick and creamy.
- Remove from heat. Add a small splash of milk if desired and enjoy warm.
Tip: If you like very soft apples like apple pie filling, you can add the apples to the pot first with a little water and cook them for 1–2 minutes before adding the oats.
