Breaking shackles through the enigma of heavenly music is Higher Rock’s mandate from God. Publisher/writer Sandy Ferri saw God’s vision for her life 15 years ago when she was sitting at home. A day that was meant to be just another “ordinary” day turned into something “extraordinary” when the Lord gave Sandy a revelation to start her own independent Christian music magazine in 1995.
“I saw the void,” Sandy said passionately. “There weren’t many magazines that focused primarily on Christian music. I saw the need, and God supplied the name and the vision.”
Inspired by Psalm 27:5 and Psalm 61:2, Higher Rock’s name is synonymous with its vibrant content, filled with diverse styles of music, ranging from Gospel, Christian Contemporary, Praise & Worship, Country, Christian Rock and even Health & Fitness.
Using her innate charismatic personality, all the while tapping into her “PR” background, Sandy’s innumerable connections have set the stage for Higher Rock to become the premier Christian music publication.
Higher Rock has featured interviews with some of the greatest Christian artists in the industry such as Martha Munizzi, CeCe Winans, Trinitee 5:7, Ronnie Freeman, Kathy Troccoli, Liz McComb, Kevin Jarido & New Virtue, and Michael English, just to name a few.
With “God-ambition” to place Christian music at the “banquet table” among other music genres, Higher Rock’s mission is to showcase the best in Christian music to the world, and restore lives through the gift of song. Inspired through the eyes of God, Higher Rock is a reflection of God’s love song at its preeminent.
Higher Rock had been a print magazine since 1995 but due to the economy and many other circumstances, Sandy truly got confused (confusion not of God) in what her next move would be, knowing that this was what God had called her to do. So she went before the Lord in prayer and fasting, not asking for anything in particular to be done, but that His Will be done only with the magazine.
Not too long after that Sandy spoke with a PR rep, who said that many print magazines were going to a web-based version - something to consider for Higher Rock. A few days later Sandy met a Christian ITT/computer technician who was married to her friend’s cousin (though at the time she did not know that). He was starting a web design company and gave her an incredible price to launch the magazine online. This all truly fell right into place; there wasn’t any hard work involved or even a struggle. There have been many companies that have reached out to send product to help with contest prizes and even companies that Higher Rock didn’t or couldn’t work with before are now reaching out as well. It truly is God.
God is faithful; all we have to do is go to Him in prayer and fasting and release our concerns before our Father. He can do ALL but fail!!

Tina Leonard/Writer
 Since God's perfect number is three, that is how many things Tina is truly passionate about in her service to the Lord. She loves to write, worship and learn. She has been writing since she was a little girl, but it wasn't until 1998 when she truly surrendered her life to the Lord that she fully understood her love of writing. She also sings on the praise and worship team at her church, who have recently been included on a compliation CD to help fight malaria in Uganda. The song that was included was written by Tina and performed by another member of thier praise and worship team. She is happily married to her soul mate and works full time while studying communications and psychology in college. Her favorite teacher of God's word is Jentezen Franklin and her love of worship is fed by artists such as Jason Upton and Rick Pino.
John DeGroff/Writer
John DeGroff is best known as the original bass player for the band Petra. He is also a past member of the jazz/rock duo Cosmonaut Bob.
DeGroff has worked as a free-lance journalist since 1995. He has had articles published in the music magazines CCM and Whatzup, and has written for the caving magazine Speleonews.
DeGroff is still a working musician who also is employed as a correspondent for the Times-Union daily newspaper in Warsaw, Indiana where he lives with his wife Jennifer.
Marybeth Mitchell /Writer
Marybeth has been with Higher Rock Music since the very beginning of time - when all I had was a vision for this publication. Marybeth's writing has captivated readers to not even put the publication down until her piece was read. She has added excitement,wisdom and knowledge to this adventure God has placed on my lap.
Marybeth has also helped in many other areas of this ministry besides writing. She has extended her abilities in the area of photography, graphics in the publications and many other areas where graphics were needed. Marybeth will reach out of her comfort zone to help in whatever I may need even if she doesn't feel she is capable of doing this. She will still attempt knowing that God will help her complete the task, knowing if she does her best, God will do the rest.
Marybeth resides in Meriden, CT with her husband Michael and dog Dakota.
Marybeth has written free lance for many years. Her passions include music of all kinds, writing, NASCAR, and the Boston Red Sox. Her introduction to country music began with a song she heard while driving home from a Red Sox game sung by Little Texas called “God Bless Texas” With that, she was hooked.
Eboyne' Jackson/Wirter
Eboyne' Jackson is a lifestyle journalist on the rise, whose immense passion for fashion, music, and pop culture, has led her to her destiny. Her writing credits include R&B singer- songwriter, Ne-yo, hit producers, the Heavy Weights, celebrity publicist, B.J. Coleman, as well as fashion consignor's, Angela and Vanessa Simmons of "Run's House;" and Brian McKnight, among others. The goal of "Ms. Lifestyles," is to inspire, and encourage every reader to pursue their dreams. "Ms. Lifestyles" is a visible testament that "all things are possible with GOD!"
